Position Summary
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the daily and period-end accounting operations for a multi-entity fuel organization. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, supporting month-end close activities, and ensuring accurate financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Accounting Manager and contribute to a collaborative, service-focused accounting team.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare monthly journal entries and supporting documentation for assigned accounts across multiple entities
Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure subsidiary ledgers tie accurately to the GL
Assist the Accounting Manager in supporting the commercial division's accounting activities
Maintain prepaid expense schedules and record recurring monthly entries
Monitor and reconcile intercompany accounts to ensure balances are aligned each month-end
Respond to accounting and financial inquiries through research and data analysis
Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits
Ensure compliance with all accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Safeguard confidential financial and business information
Demonstrate professional, service-oriented behavior that supports company values and internal stakeholders
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
Minimum of 2 years of accounting or finance experience
Working knowledge of US GAAP and foundational accounting principles
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy and professionalism
